I went to film with Sydney and Laura today. It was fun. We filmed at the Lansdowne train station for a short film for Sydney's production class. In order to get some of the framing we wanted, we had to ignore some warnings. (We made sure to check the schedule.)

The dolly was bumpy on the pavement, so we used cardboard boxes to smooth things out. It worked great.

The crew and I are starting from square one for the 1830s film. It will sill focus on 4 characters and take place namely in two locations. The story is going to be a lot darker, with a lot more emotional tension, character growth and development by the end. We'll really be able to utilize the locations that we have locked down already too. Despite having a rather unsettling setback, the crew, cast, and myself are really excited about the new idea. We're writing it with modern dialogue and then will translate it to be period accurate. I'm heavily considering bringing someone in who would be able to help with the dialogue translation process.

I met up with Chris yesterday at The Coffee Bar for breakfast, and to vent about the first script idea falling apart. He was supportive of the new story, and we tossed around some plot points and character personalities.

Chris and Rebecca are two of our actors. I snapped these real quick against the wall of the studio during the read-through we had on Friday.

The read-through didn't go well, which led to us all agreeing to do a full rewrite of the script. Here are snippets from where we couldn't get through parts of the script, etc. We were all upset that things didn't go well with our original writer, but none of us are willing to give up working on the project.
